March 20th : Presentation of the Festival !

Partylegacies.com and Mon Diamant Music, partners of the event !

Last year, we were telling you Paris nightlife was deeply evolving and stepping up to its European siblings like Berlin and London. One year later, the trend plainly confirmed and take no risk saying Marvellous Island 2013 really was a huge spot confirming the starting point for the creation of an incredible number of quality events and festivals.

Last year, Marvellous Island gathered more than 20 000 thousands festival-goers in 5 days and is even more ambitious for this year.

Speaking of the line-up, Marvellous also provides a great range of artists, showcasing both major Dj’s and Labels (Solomun, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Niconé and Sascha Braemer, Gaiser, M.A.N.D.Y., Rober Dietz, Audiofly, Naxxos, Stereoclip…) and emerging artists from the Parisian scene (Sucré Salé, Cracki Crew, Klingande, Gulivert…).

There under you can check at the almost complete line-up.

L’île de la Porte Jaune (Paris 12th) has also completely been rethought, with a whole new scenography, even more incredible than last year’s . You will find 3 different stages named the Jungle stage, the Temple one, the Black box and a chill-out area called Le Village. Here’s the map of the island for this second edition:

Partylegacies.com is really happy to be partner of the festival and will update you with some extra contents : a 5 days photo reportage, this regularly updated article, and frequent posts on our Facebook Page!

As you may know, we also have a YouTube channel called Mon Diamant Music, also partner of the event where we will post an exclusive video of the 1st edition and a special playlist on Soundcloud.

Club to Club Torino, Best festival of the end of the year #C2C13

11th November : Afterfest update !

Back from Turin yesterday, it’s just now that I found the courage to start writing – that is how amazing and intense (..and tiring)  the festival was !!

Friday, 8th : PartyLegacies first went to a quick Resident Advisor press conference featuring the Haxan Cloack where we learnt about his inspiration put into Excavation, his new yet dark album freshly released. PL then went to Cantiera OGR where mainly James Holden and  Jon Hopkins were playing. The first put the crowd in a great mood, constantly enhancing the atmosphere and then Hopkins took it to another level with upbeats and loud basses that were Friday’s ultimate moments. Hiroshima Mon Amour though, the second venue seemed more like a big clubbing party, which was still appreciable but a bit disappointing considering the schedule (1am-6am) and thus we would have expected something as massive as the Cantiera OGR enabling a real friday grand finale. However, Koreless live was memorable, such as Objekt dj set.

Saturday,9th : Saturday fest-ivites started in Lingotto Fiere for PL : 2 rooms, 2 moods but definitely 2 amazing ones. In the Padiglione 1 (Main Room), we saw some incredible headlines starting with Four Tet who laid the foundation and turn this huge space into a welcoming fair within’ a vibrant atmosphere. He was followed by Modeselektor that played as well groomed sounds as its transitions, and Julio Bashmore that brought some loud kinda Nu Disco and bass-filled sounds that we liked some much. Meanwhile in the Red Bull Music Academy room (Red Room), we enjoyed the warm atmosphere and more experimental sounds that was played, from Trap to Hip-hop passing by the deepest tunes. Special thanks to Rustie and his well-noted and energetic entrance.

Today (29th October) a press conference was held in which we learnt that Bambounou (FR) will be playing on the festival closing day (Sunday 10th). If you’re around Milan on the 2nd, #C2C13 festivities should begin even earlier : This year Milano’s will get us started at EX CDG (Milan) and the night is to be shared with One Circle and The Field, both playing live.

Moreover, all the festival partners insisted on the collaborative and particular resonance of the event. For the British council who actively contributed to organizing, it is a new connection program and a creative handshake between young Italian talents (12 of them) and British ones (17 collaborated).

Michael Brun unveils ‘Gravity EP’

“Revered as one of the upfront electronic imprints in the progressive circuit, Dirty South’s ‘Phazing Records’ latest offering brings together all the sounds and sentiments that have earned the label such a high reputation in it’s short history. No stranger to the Phazing roster, Michael Brun heads up the next EP. Bringing influences from his homeland, Haiti, Brun provides a sublime 3-tracker.

From the off, the title track ‘Gravity’ sews the seeds for the EP, setting the tone with bubbling arpeggios rising through the mix with a level of uncertainty, before breaking out into a huge melody, peppered with darker tech-trance qualities. Track two, appropriately dubbed ‘Halfway’, conjures up a pristine Balearic backdrop via warm pads, light and uplifting synths, an arpeggiated lead synth, and soothing vocals. ‘Halfway’ is beautifully reverbed into a tranquil yet uplifting record destined for the biggest festivals, beach parties, and sun-drenched events around the world. The final piece of the EP is named after a red supergiant star, ‘Antares’. Expecations set, ‘Antares’ comes full force, dropping a heavy bassline, a wide-open stereo field filled with crisp instrumentation, a monstrous lead layered with a hard-hitting piano and vast synthesis, all tuned to a dramatic and seemingly ‘sci-fi’ melody.”

1. Gravity

2. Halfway (PL’s pick)

3. Antares
